1:1 ancestral connection + healing
with an antiracist and decolonial lens
for people of european descent
weave yourself back into your ancestral story.
it's time to reclaim and remember the practices of your ancestors before they were racialized as white, when they lived in relationship with the natural world. to reawaken the wisdom that lives within your lineage.
it's time to build and deepen into a relationship with your ancestors who are here to support and guide you on your path. those who are here to offer you their love and support. those who are here to offer healing to you, your lineage, and the collective.
it's time to grieve what’s been lost and forgotten. to speak to what’s been silenced.
it's time to remember and acknowledge the gifts you’ve inherited and face the harm, hurt, and pain that live within your lineage and self.
it’s time to break cycles of harm and choose healing. choose repair. choose accountability.
it's time to find a sense of belonging. connecting with and tending to your roots.
"You will find every possible story in your own family tree. So what you're afraid of encountering, it's there. And whatever you are praying you will encounter, it's there. I believe that every lineage holds points of pride. The fact is that if we go looking we will find their humanity. If you go looking in dreadful heritages you will find people to love and cherish."
-Aurora Levins Morales
ancestral connection + healing
all of us have ancestors who tended to and revered their ancestors. we have ancestors who had unique cosmologies and stories rooted in their relationship with the natural world. ancestors who grieved, danced, and sang together. we all have ancestors who valued reciprocity, community care, and ritual.
there was a break. a disconnection from practices, beliefs, and community. famine. war. imperialism. torture. plague. religious persecution. forced displacement. sacrificing culture and identity to survive with limited or no resources to process the grief and trauma of it all.
hurt people hurt people. we have ancestors who caused unimaginable harm. ancestors who contributed to and turned away from atrocities happening in their communities. ancestors who chose survival over solidarity. as descendants of europeans, white-bodied supremacy and colonialism lives within our ancestral stories and selves. it can be easy to avoid these aspects of our stories but we cannot change or heal what we do not face.
learning how to hold these truths is a central part of ancestral connection + healing. holding our ancestors (and ourselves) in their complexity and contradictions. finding compassion and understanding. offering loving accountability. reclaiming the wisdom and medicine of our lineages. breaking patterns of harm and violence. remembering how to live in relationship with the natural world, one of reciprocity and reverence. challenging individualism and embracing interdependence. rooting into who we are and weaving ourselves back into our ancestral stories.

about me
my teachers Kimmy Johnson and Atava Garcia Swiecicki introduced me to this practice in 2015 and my life was forever changed. suddenly, i felt a deep, loving support and guidance in my life. i learned (and continue to learn) about the practices and belief systems of my celtic and germanic ancestors who lived in close relationship with the natural world. my worldview changed. i began to understand myself as part of a bigger story, one that expands far beyond me. i received support and healing for wounds that were both personal and generational. this practice is what led me to antiracism and liberation work. a lifelong practice that continues to open and change me in profound ways. i am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to support people in building and deepening their relationship with their ancestors and i truly believe this practice is vital to collective liberation.
my identity as a white, european and christian-descended, american shape my own experience of this work and the ways i support others. i am happy to work with folks who don’t hold these identities but i recognize my limitations and that I am not the best fit for everyone. i am always happy to discuss this with people who aren't quite sure and who feel called to my work. i'm also happy to provide recommendations for BIPOC and Jewish practitioners. contact me for more information.
it would not be possible for me to do this work without the centuries-old efforts of Indigenous people and people of African descent to hold onto & maintain their cultural traditions despite cultural appropriation, colonization, genocide, and enslavement. i have deep gratitude for the Indigenous elders who shared this wisdom and taught my teachers, Kimmy Johnson and Atava Garcia Swiecicki, how to connect & build a relationship with their ancestors and to Dr. Apela Colorado for stewarding their learning environment.
